to apply. Annual dues are $150.00, which covers dues for local and national membership for one year. Houston membership is administered by the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology. The Houston Board of Directors approves all applications for membership.
Active Membership: This primary level of membership is available to any individual engaged in research, engineering, technical development, quality control or supervisory production work for the manufacture or improvement of the finished products or the raw materials of the protective or decorative coatings and printing ink industries. This level of membership is also open to suppliers to manufacturing entities in the coatings industry.
Any individual who has been an Active Member for at least five (5) years, and is engaged in work related to the coatings and ink industries, would also be considered eligible for Active Membership. Also included are any individuals who are intimately interested in and associated with the protective and decorative coatings, and printing ink industries.
Local Membership Only: Local Membership is for the local Houston Society only. There is no affiliation with the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology or access to F.S.C.T. informational or support resources (including the Journal of Coatings Technology). The dues for this level of membership is $40.00 annually. This level of membership offers access to the technical presentations, as well as educational and scholarship services.
Educator and Student Membership: Any individual who is a college or high school educator or who is a student registered in an educational institution of recognized standing in a course of study in chemistry, engineering, physics or other related sciences leading to a degree, shall be eligible for Educator or Student Membership, but each membership shall terminate three (3) months after the individual ceases to qualify. The rights and privileges of Educator and Student Members shall be determined by the Board of Directors.
Retired Membership: Any Active, Associate or Educator Member shall be eligible for Retired Membership when he or she has severed his or her connection with his or her employer by nature of retirement due to age, disability or for reasons deemed suitable by the Membership Committee, and is no longer considered a permanent employee in the protective and decorative coatings and printing ink industries.
Society Honorary Membership: Any Active, Educator or Retired Member who has rendered a signal service to the Constituent Society shall be eligible for Society Honorary Membership.
